UMCES: Connect and Explore
The UMCES: Connect and Explore badge is earned by incoming students who attend the two-day welcome event at Horn Point Laboratory.
About this Credential
Students who attend the in-person welcome event to earn this badge will engage in the following activities:
- SCIPE Training (optional).
- Ice Breakers with fellow incoming students.
- MEES Graduate Student Organization panel.
- Meeting the UMCES president.
- Research Vessel Rachel Carson Cruise.
- Canoeing.
- All MEES picnic.
- Record keeping and field notes lesson.
- BioBlitz.
- Notebook reflections and communication exercise.
Throughout this welcome event, students will get to know their fellow students through discussions and team building. They will also become acquainted with the university and feel more prepared to begin the graduate school experience.
- Copy the specific credential link for your earned record from your My Credentials page.
- In LinkedIn, choose Add profile section > Licenses & Certifications.
- Use this badge title as the certification name and “University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES)” as the issuing organization.
- Paste your unique credential link into “Credential URL”.
